What we do
Six ways to take a piece of ground back.
Mulching and clearing is most of the work. The rest of the attachments cover the dirt work and the cleanup either side of it, so one outfit finishes the job.
Forestry mulching
Brush, briars and saplings cut and ground down in a single pass, then left on the ground as mulch. No burn piles, no hauling, and no tearing up the soil to do it.
Learn moreLand clearing
Clearing for building sites, pasture, food plots, trails and views. Taken to whatever finish you are after, from a thinned stand to open ground.
Learn moreBucket work
Dirt work with a bucket on the machine: levelling, backfilling and spreading, either as its own job or as the finish on a clearing job.
Learn moreGrapple work
Picking up and stacking what is too big or too tangled to push: downed timber, storm damage, old brush piles and pulled fence line.
Learn moreTree pulling
Small trees pulled out at the root rather than cut off at the ground, so you are not left with a stump or with the same growth coming back next season.
Learn moreBush hogging
Fields, pasture, trails and roadsides cut back, either as a one-off on ground that has got away from you or on a schedule so it never does.

Who you are hiring
Owner-run, and it shows on the job.
Hewitt Forestry is a small, owner-run outfit working out of Middle Tennessee. The person who quotes your job is the person who turns up and runs the machine. There is nobody to hand it off to.
That is what the reviews tend to be about: showing up on time, working at a steady pace, and being careful around the trees you asked to keep. Fully licensed and insured, and the quote costs you nothing either way.
Recent work
The same ground, before and after.
Three jobs, photographed at the start and again at the finish. The mulch stays where it falls as ground cover. Nothing burned, and nothing hauled off the property.

Hewitt Forestry did a great job clearing 1.2 acres for me in Van Buren County. He showed up on time and ready to go. He worked at a good pace and was careful to not damage trees we were keeping. I’ll definitely have him out again to clear my property in the future.
Hewitt Forestry is very thorough and dependable, communication good. Work is outstanding. We live in the woods and it’s amazing to see how open our views are now! Highly recommend.
I recommend Hewitt Forestry for land clearing. He did a great job, has super nice equipment, shows up on time, very respectful and was best price out of the three companies I got bids from.
